The Joint Admissions and matriculation board was established by a decree during the military regime (Decree No. 2 of 1978) on February 13, 1978, by the then Federal Military government. Decree No. 2 was later amended by the federal executive council in August 1988. These amendments by the federal executive council were later classified into Decree No. 33 of the federal military government. This new decree took effect on December 7, 1989.

The military decree establishing the joint Admissions and Matriculation Board gives JAMB the power to conduct matriculation examination in all universities, colleges of education, polytechnics, and every other tertiary institution in Nigeria and also give students admission based on the available space in the universities according to the guidelines of the tertiary institutions. They are also empowered to appoint invigilators, examiners, and all those in charge of the matriculation examination process.

  • Assistant Chief Administrative Officer – 135,000 naira monthly
  • Senior Legal Officer – 150,000 naira monthly
  • Account Director – 294,000 naira monthly
  • Program Analyst II – 85,000 naira monthly

How to apply for a job at JAMB

  • Application for a job at the Joint Admissions and matriculation board is done online at www.jamb.gov.ng.
  • Application forms is free. All you need do is visit the site and complete your application by providing all the necessary information and submitting your application.
  • Those who have been shortlisted will be called for a screening exercise which will be a CBT-based test administered by JAMB.
